Ask the Vet: Dog whines at night, wildfire smoke exposure and your pet

Ranger the dog is the subject of our first question, from Kim Grooms-Hoyle.

She says, "Every night Ranger whines. He's right there with us, but he will walk through the house and whine. We've tried leaving the doggy door open, giving him extra attention, and his food/water is available at all times. He's not sad or in pain because when we give him extra attention, he plays just fine. Then he'll lay down for a short time, then get back up and whine."

And Lisa Schultze Hill says, "The smoke from all the forest fires has been pretty dense in our area. What kind of symptoms will we see if our dogs are sensitive to the smoke? Long term health?"

You can send us your pet questions too, by posting to the news 13 facebook page or emailing them to news@wlos.com with "Ask the vet" in the subject line.
