Melissa LeRoy, Foothills Wellness Center
Melissa Metcalf Le Roy, a North Carolina native, lives in Saluda, North Carolina with her husband Chris, and two dogs Cali and Chandra. Melissa graduated from West Henderson High School where her athletic career was sparked. She played on the Basketball team and also competed in many State and Regional Championships while running track. In 1993 she was accepted to Western Carolina University on a track scholarship. It was at this time that her life took a turn for the worst.
Melissa was diagnosed with a rare disease. Instead of accepting this, she took her love of exercise and altered her diet, with the help and guidance of Dr. Joseph V. Picone of Foothills Wellness Center, to overcome the disease and loose the close to one hundred pounds she had put on while battling the disease. At her heaviest Melissa reached 220 lbs, she successful went from a woman’s size 14 to a size 0. Today Melissa actively participates in road races, half marathons and Spartan Races. Her other active hobbies include Mountain Biking, Hiking and StandUp Paddle Board. In 2014 Melissa achieved her goal in becoming a Spartan Trifecta, competing in all three Spartan Races distances in one year.
Melissa is a Holistic Nutritional Pracitioner and currently assists Dr. Joseph Picone at Foothills Wellness Center. Melissa is also certified in Group Fitness, Personal Training, TRX® and Yoga Instruction.
