Full Moon Farm

News 13 continues our challenge to help give back. Our morning anchors are spotlighting 3 local charities every month. One airs each Monday morning, and after the third week we open up the voting to our viewers. Go to the WLOS Facebook page to vote for which charity you think deserves to win $1,000 from our partner, Bryan Easler Toyota.

We start this month with Full Moon Farm in Black Mountain, a sanctuary for some animals that are often misrepresented and misunderstood.

Founder and President of Full Moon Farm, Nancy Brown, says "they are not half wolf and half dog as most people believe, that is a myth." Commonly misunderstood, the domestic animals are often euthanized when they end up in a shelter. Something Full Moon Farm strives to avoid with this sanctuary in Buncombe county.

Board Member and Volunteer, Donna Wiedrich, says "when our animals come here its pretty much the last stop for them.  Most of them come from abusive or neglected situations and they are not adoptable."

At full capacity, 67 wolfdogs are living out their lives here and since they don't do adoptions, finding funding is even harder. So winning the News 13 Charity Challenge reward of $1,000 dollars would go a long way.
