News 13 continues our challenge to help give back. Our morning anchors are spotlighting 3 local charities every month. One airs each Monday morning and after the 3rd week, we open up the voting to our viewers.

Beginning this morning, go to the WLOS Facebook page to vote for which charity you think deserves to win $1,000 from our partner, Bryan Easler Toyota.

Our final charity in the running this month is Only Hope W.N.C., which serves the homeless youth of Western North Carolina.

You may be surprised how many kids are walking the halls of our schools, that are homeless.

A volunteer at the center, Ann Madden, says "you go to a school and they tell you there are 297 kids that have no family, no home, no place to sleep, no food, and I throw food away everyday. It's heartbreaking." That number is for Henderson county alone. Many of these kids are completely on their own without family. Only Hope wants to support those kids in the most basic ways.

President of Only Hope W.N.C., Michael Absher, says kids are living on a day-to-day basis. Children are referred by the schools to Only Hope. The group gives the kids supplies, clothes, and hotel rooms to stay in when the weather turns bad.

With $1,000, they will be closer to their biggest goal of having a dream-home for these kids.
