Ask 13: Is Warren Wilson's indoor pool still on track?

Warren Wilson College closed its pool in 2014, and, earlier this year, Buncombe County gave $300,000 to complete fundraising efforts to renovate the pool.

A viewer has questions about the pool overhaul.

"I have not been able to tell anything has been done toward the Warren Wilson pool in a couple of months," Mary Lane wrote Ask 13. "When I have gone by during the week, there has been no one working."

Warren Wilson swim coach Elle Grier said the project is still on track.

"We are switching the route that we were going to take for the opening. Originally, we were going to put the structure up first and then do the interval portions of the pool," Grier said.

"Now, that's switching. We're going to work on the internal portions of the pool, redoing the gutters, working on the pump system, and then we're going to put the walls up. So, everything is still on track. We're still going to be open in time for swim season, and it's really exciting. So, its going really well."

The pool will have a new name, which Warren Wilson will announce before its opening.

College officials said the pool is scheduled to reopen by October.
