Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 09:27 PM EDT
A rich tradition is living on in the 82nd Annual City of Asheville Open Tennis Championships. Close to 500 competitors ranging from children to adult have been competing on the courts at Aston Park. Assistant Manager & Tennis Director for the City says through the years this event has grown into an 200 point Tournament of the Southern Tennis Association. This morning, Luke showed News 13's Victoria Dunkle a few techniques. He also talked about how Wimbledon and other Grand Slam tournaments build interest in the tennis scene in the mountains. The Adult Open starts Thursday. The Adult & Junior rounds include nationally and world ranked players. You can come out and watch for free.
