Home Protection Tips

Updated: Thursday, October 3 2013, 01:36 PM EDT
Time to take your home off the market for thieves. A late summer increase in Break-ins has local Home Owners Associations and Law Enforcement remind people to take steps to make their home less of a target. This morning, News 13's Victoria Dunkle found out some simple steps to take to do just that. The managers of Secure One in Arden say most break-ins happen between 9:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. They also say in about 25% of the cases the thieves get in through an unlocked door. Security measures can be as basic as deadbolt locks, peepholes in doors, and motion detecting lighting. You can also set up alarm systems that include fire, police and medical. Some systems offer video monitoring that includes text or email notification. To find out what your security needs may be you can call Secure One at 828-654-7662 for a free evaluation. One more tip, be sure to record serial numbers of high interest items for thieves including electronics and firearms.Home Protection Tips
