Jonathan Scales Fourchestra are excited to announce the summer release of their forthcoming self-titled album with a celebratory performance at Asheville’s Altamont Theater on Saturday, June 1st, 2013. The CD release concert will showcase songs from the genre-bending trio’s July 9th release, with special appearances from some of Asheville’s most prominent names in Jazz.
Wielding steel pans and an acute sense of composition, Jonathan Scales has become a central figure in the Asheville music scene. In 2011, the current configuration of Jonathan Scales Fourchestra was conceived: Scales, drummer/percussionist Phill Bronson, and fusion bassist Cody Wright. The group was founded from a mutual respect of each other’s musical proficiency and passion for contemporary jazz. On Jonathan Scales Fourchestra’s debut release, the trio wanders into unchartered terrain, melding contemporary jazz with funk, rock, jam, and Latin arrangements.
Guest contributors on Jonathan Scales Fourchestra include Grammy winners Victor Wooten and Howard Levy (Béla Fleck and the Flecktones), fiddle virtuoso Casey Driessen, Michael Bublé Band members Justin Ray and Jacob Rodriguez, and a host of Asheville musicians.
Jonathan Scales Fourchestra is currently on the road in support of their upcoming release with stops throughout the Southeast, Gulf Coast and Northeast. A full schedule is below.
