National Dessert Day

It's National Dessert Day! So for just one day, forget about the calories and high fat content in many desserts. Then, tomorrow you can go back to your diet.
It's easy to enjoy National Dessert Day. You can make your own desserts, buy them at the store, or go out to a restaurant and enjoy a dessert, or two. Local baker, Jodi Rhoden, from Short Street Cakes stopped by the morning show with some dessert decorating tips.
Jodi showed us how to make this east recipe for homemade pie crust:
Butter crust: (makes top and bottom crust for one 9" pie or 4 mini pies
1 1/2 cup flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 oz butter, cold
3 tablespoons ice water
Pulse butter in the food processor. Add dry ingredients. Blend until the mixture starts to climb the sides of the bowl. Add the water and pulse until just combined.
Knead briefly into a ball; wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate.
Fill with fruit filling of your choice- bake at 425 degrees for the first 15 minutes; then reduce temperature to 350 and bake until golden brown.
