July is National Ice Cream Month and Gene Reid from Blue Bell stopped by our studio to tell us about a new flavor, Rockslide Brownie, out this summer.
In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day. He recognized ice cream as a fun and nutritious food that is enjoyed by a full 90 percent of the nation's population. In the proclamation, President Reagan called for all people of the United States to observe these events with "appropriate ceremonies and activities."
On News 13 This Morning, Gene shared how you can turn this new flavor into a delicious summer treat!
Recipie for Rockslide Brownie S’Mores:
2 graham cracker squares
1 to 2 t. chocolate dessert topping
1 scoop Blue Bell Rockslide Brownie Ice Cream (approximately 1/3 cup)
Drizzle dessert topping on one side of a graham cracker square. Place ice cream on top of sauce. Top with second graham cracker square and press down gently to adhere the crackers to the ice cream. Serve immediately. Makes one serving.
Note: The above dessert can be eaten without utensils. To make it a little fancier, serve it “open-faced” by omitting the second graham square. Serve it in a small dessert dish and top the ice cream with a dollop of whipped topping, some crushed graham cracker pieces and more dessert topping.
