Health Alert: CEO Rehab

POLK COUNTY, N.C. -- It's one thing as a CEO to promote your hospital and another to become a customer.

It's ironic the man who helped expand orthopaedic surgery at Saint Luke's Hospital in Columbus is himself rehabbing from knee replacement at the facility.

"I had seen really good results from other people," CEO Ken Shull said. "I knew we had a good product; I was hoping not to have to use it but I did."

Shull underwent the surgery on his left knee three months ago.

"The biggest surprise for me was the commitment to rehab. I was committed to it; I didn't realize the time it was going to take for the rehab," Shull said.

Often times three hours a day on various machines, and that's not all he had to endure.
