"It just sculpts soft tissue away, millimeter by millimeter."

This surgical tool at Park Ridge Health brought needed relief for 74-year-old Linda Giezentanner.

"The pain escalated down my back to my legs, and I was basically incapacitated," said Giezentanner.

"She had a fairly serious spinal condition," said Dr. Stephen David, orthopedic medical director at Park Ridge Health. "She had compression around the nerves in her lower back."

David explained the stabilization procedure and decompression he performed using a Misonix ultrasonic bone-sculpting device. The physician said the device improved the efficiency, safety and overall effectiveness of Giezentanner's procedure by distinguishing bone from tissue and never touching a nerve.

"The surgery went beautifully," she recalled. "I woke up. I walked and did everything I was supposed to do and went home."

"Things went well for Linda, but Linda is a typical patient undergoing these procedures," the doctor explained.

Giezentanner added, "Pain is gone, back pain is gone, leg pain is gone."

... all without pain medication thanks to Misonix.
