'Top Gun' actress Kelly McGillis assaulted in her Henderson County home
HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. -- Actress Kelly McGillis was the victim of stalking and assault last week when a woman broke into her Henderson County home.
According to deputies, McGillis came home on June 17 around 9 p.m. to find a woman in her house. McGillis said the woman accused her of stalking her on Twitter before attacking her.
"She ran out after me and began punching and scratching my trying to grab the phone out of my hand," McGillis recalled in a Facebook post. "I began screaming as loud as I could hoping someone somewhere might hear me."
Laurence Marie Dorn is charged with second-degree burglary, misdemeanor larceny, misdemeanor stalking, assault and battery and interfering with emergency communication.
After a struggle, McGillis left her home and called 911.
Dorn, of Illinois, was arrested and booked into the Henderson County Jail under a $60,000 bond. McGillis told News 13 there was a little girl who was in the house with Dorn at the time of the attack. She's now in DSS custody.
