An Asheville police officer, along with some friends, made a special delivery to a family who lost so much earlier this year.

In February, Jorge Flores was killed in a wreck in front of the Goodwill on Patton Avenue. When officer Scott Fry notified the family, he met Jorge's wife, Melissa, and their son, Daily.

Melissa and Daily tried to connect with Fry for Thanksgiving, but he was out of town.

Fry was so touched, he and his wife decided to give Melissa and Daily an amazing Christmas. They, along with other officers and chief Tammy Hooper, delivered the gifts Thursday night.

Fry, his wife, and members of the traffic safety unit, DWI task force and another law enforcement agency got Daily gifts and money to help Melissa for the next few months.
