Asheville church robbed Sunday for the third time in five months

An Asheville church was robbed again on Sunday morning, according to Harvest Time Assembly of God Pastor Darrell McClaren.

Harvest Time Assembly is located on Summit Street and was robbed for the third time in five months around 9 a.m. Sunday, according to Pastor McClaren.

A suspect was arrested: Daniel Bangert, 31, of Asheville. Bangert is charged with felony breaking and or entering, and larceny after breaking and or entering.

Pastor McClaren said neighbors called 911 after seeing a man with a description matching Bangert's, walking away with a wheelbarrow full of equipment.

The pastor said nearly $4000 worth of equipment was stolen from the church, including a DVD player, speakers, a projector, and a wheelbarrow. Some of the church's equipment was damaged, and there was some damage to the church itself, costing an estimated $1000 on top of their losses.

The equipment from Sunday's robbery was returned, but McClaren said there are still no suspects in the other two robberies, and the equipment from those robberies is still missing.
