Asheville family treated to Christmas stay at Renaissance Hotel
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) —
The holidays can be a stressful time for everyone, but one deserving Asheville family got a gift of pure relaxation.
The Petty family has been fostering children for 17 years in Buncombe County. They recently took on a foster child who has behavioral and medical needs.
The Irene Wortham Center stepped in to help provide the child with day care, but they wanted to do something extra special for the family this holiday.
The Renaissance Hotel hooked up the Petty family with a three day, two night vacation with everything completely taken care of. They even had a tree specially set up for them in their hotel room.
The Irene Wortham Center also bought presents for the family to open up on Christmas Day.
The parents said they are thankful for everyone's generosity.
"It's exciting we get to spend some time down town and with each other and enjoy the holiday," mother Nikki Petty said.
The getaway comes at a much-needed time because the family was in a car accident last week Tuesday, which totaled their new car.
The family told News 13 they are excited to open all their gifts on Christmas Day.
