Asheville police charge Anthony Garcia with attempted rape

An Asheville man who was facing sexual battery charges has had more charges added.

Anthony Ray Garcia was charged Jan. 2, 2018, with two counts of attempted rape. These charges are in addition to charges from Dec. 21, 2017, for two counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of sexual battery, breaking and entering to terrorize or injure and assault on a female.

Garcia is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Center on a $335,000 bond.

Garcia was arrested Dec. 21, 2017, after being identified as the suspect in two breaking and entering cases in which a woman reported waking to a man on top of her in her bed.
