Police: In case of juvenile charged with murder, charges possible for gun owner

Asheville police have identified a juvenile suspect in a deadly shooting that happened Sunday at Pisgah View Apartments in Asheville.

They say they have filed a first-degree murder warrant on the juvenile accused in the shooting.

The fatal shooting happened at the complex at just after twelve in the afternoon.

Police found 20-year-old Rondy Shields III wounded and unconscious. He was taken to Mission Hospital where he later died.

News 13 asked Asheville police if others could be charged in this case, since the suspected juvenile is believed to have had a gun.

The police department's spokesperson said that "In any shooting case involving a juvenile, there is the potential for any adult, not necessarily the parent or guardian, to be charged with unlawful storage of firearms."
