Authorities called to Johnston Elementary School after pepper spray discharged into air
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) —
Earlier this morning, emergency personnel responded to Johnston Elementary after a student acquired a small container of pepper spray from a teacher’s personal belongings and discharged it into the air.
Out of an abundance of caution, emergency personnel were called to the school to check out the students and staff members who were in the vicinity at the time. No one required further medical care. The classroom has been inspected by Buncombe County School’s Health and Safety Manager and is being thoroughly aired out using proper procedure.
This incident remains under investigation by school administration.
