An investigation is underway after a woman was found dead inside a home just west of Asheville.

This investigation started on Monday when 52-year-old Gina Church was found dead inside a home on Gobbler's Knob. According to a search warrant, investigators found her leg under a portion of a recliner, and her body was laying on a black plastic bag.

The homeowner told deputies Church was at his house visiting, and before he went to bed, she was sitting in that recliner watching TV.

The warrant states he woke up sometime between 11 p.m. and midnight and saw her lying on the ground and thought she moved there to get more comfortable. It wasn't until the next morning when he went to shake her and she didn't respond when he called 911.

The two had been in an on and off again relationship. News 13 tried to speak with him, but he said he didn't want to talk to anyone and closed the door.

A spokesperson with the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office said an autopsy was performed on Tuesday, and the cause of death was determined to be natural causes.

No charges have been filed.
