An autopsy has confirmed a Macon County baby whose father is charged with murder died of suffocation due to smothering and blunt force trauma to the head.

Warrants state Jesse Wilson often got frustrated with 3-month-old Liam and squeezed his head. The baby "would look at him all funny with his eyes and go down to a whimper,” Wilson reported. He admitted doing this the day Liam died. The warrants also said emergency workers noticed bruising on Liam's head when they responded to his home in Franklin in May 2017.

Wilson called 911 from the home he shared with Liam’s mother, who was at work at the time.

If convicted of murder, the 21-year-old Wilson could face the death penalty.
