Sunday wrecks slow holiday traffic on problematic I-26
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) —
It's predictable but unavoidable when you get that many cars out on the road all at once.
Buncombe County dispatchers say there was at least one wreck Sunday afternoon that might have involved injuries, but we still have no confirmation on that.
The westbound lane of I-26 was at a standstill for miles near the Airport Road Exit, right around noon.
The NCDOT also reported a wreck near Brevard Road.
The interstate returned to normal around 1 p.m.
If you're still waiting to head home, expect delays most of the evening on a heavy travel day.
