Class action against Cherokee County DSS moves to federal court
CHEROKEE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) —
There are new developments involving the Department of Social Services in Cherokee County.
The class action lawsuit filed against Cherokee County DSS has been moved to federal court.
The NC Department of Health and Human Services took over the agency several weeks ago.
The lawsuit claims child welfare workers removed potentially hundreds of kids from their homes illegally.
The lawsuit says those DSS employees did not follow state law to get a judge's approval to remove children from their biological parents.
