The Asheville Fire Department is coming together and asking for help for one of their own.

At only 33-years-old, firefighter Will Willis has served his community as a volunteer with the Ebbs Chapel Fire Department for 15 years.

The loving husband and father of 4 small children also works as an Engineer with the Asheville Fire Department and co-owns an electrical business.

After undergoing surgery to remove his kidney in April 2017, he was diagnosed with a rare subtype of Translocation Renal Cell Carcinoma.

A scan six months later shows that this aggressive cancer has returned in multiple areas.

At Will's most recent doctor visit, the doctor spoke in terms of months not years to enjoy life with his family.

At this time, there are no proven curable options for this type of cancer.

Will and his wife Bonnie are hoping to have a better understanding of what the next step is after a scan this month.

A GoFundMe account has been created to help the family as Will continues his fight.

The Asheville Fire Department will be hosting a fundraiser event for the Willis family on Friday, December 15, at Green Man Brewery in downtown Asheville.
