Driver in Long Shoals crash charged with DWI & reckless driving to endanger
Asheville, N.C. (WLOS) —
The driver of a car that closed down Long Shoals Road in Arden Sunday night has been charged.
The Asheville Police Department say a car, driven by Carlos Sierra-Maldonado, 40, was traveling east at a high rate of speed on Long Shoals Road when he attempted to pass another vehicle and lost control.
The vehicle left the roadway and hit a power pole, breaking it in half.
Sierra-Maldonado was transported to Mission Hospital and charged with Driving While Impaired and Reckless Driving to Endanger.
Long Shoals Road was shut down for some time due to power cables hanging low to the ground.
