Dashcam video shows troopers talking with Fletcher priest accused of road rage

Newly released video shows a Fletcher priest’s interaction with troopers after getting pulled over on a Florida highway over a road rage incident.

In the Florida Highway Patrol video, Rector William Adams, of Calvary Episcopal Church, and an unknown woman can be seen talking to troopers as they search his car.

According to a 911 call, Adams brake-checked a woman and pulled a gun on her.

In an incident report, he says someone from the vehicle threw soda at him and he drove away. He admitted there was a gun in his car but said he never touched it.

Adams is facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Bishop José Antonio McLoughlin released a statement to News 13 on behalf of Adams:

"As bishop of Western North Carolina, I want to note that consultation and conversation are underway. Pastoral care is being provided to Father Adams, his family and his congregation. It is best to remember that, as in all situations, there are many facets to consider. We believe in, and will follow, all formal processes. I ask that you continue to keep everyone in your prayers."

Adams did not respond to multiple requests from News 13 for comment.
