Extreme winter blast brings frigid temperatures & possibility of snow
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) —
Brutal winter weather is impacting the entire East Coast, from Florida up to Canada, and it’s only supposed to get worse as The National Weather Service says a wintry mix of snow and freezing rain was expected Wednesday mainly along the Atlantic seaboard from Florida to North Carolina.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning or advisory for 44 counties in central and eastern North Carolina.
A wind chill advisory is in effect in 22 counties in western North Carolina.
For Western North Carolina, light snow showers are possible overnight Wednesday and into Thursday. Don’t expect much for accumulation, it’s looking like only a dusting at this point.
Thursday will bring a return to brutally cold weather with highs likely not getting out of the 20s and lows dipping back into the single digits. Thursday will also bring some snow back to the mountains, mostly near and along the Tennessee border, with some accumulation expected.
