Students worked with the Roots Foundation to harvest vegetables on Friday.

It gave them a chance to get to know each other before classes get started.

"It just broadens our college experience, you know" student Joshua Darby said. "College, you can think of many experiences. Some of the time, people just think of staying in the classroom. Wel,l here we are, and we're helping the community and having a good old time about it,"

There were other Service Day activities taking place on Friday across the area.

Classes at Warren Wilson College start on Monday.
