Ground should be broken next week on a $300,000 trail system at The Park at Flat Rock.

A generous donation by the late Richard Eppler Jr. and donations from park enthusiasts have made the trail upgrade possible.

The trail system, which is 1.4 miles long, will be more than 3.5 mile long after the work. There will be up to eight new trails, including trails that wind through meadows and near ponds.

"People love the park. They are happy to help us complete it. It's been a great, a really great project for the community and for the people that live in Flat Rock," councilmember

Ginger Brown said.

The trail system is expected to be completed by early spring.
