A boy scout campground in Saluda is closed until further notice after Friday’s mudslides and flash floods destroyed it.

More than 100 scouts were staying at Camp Bob Hardin Friday night when the heavy rain started falling.

The road leading to the main dining hall partly crumbled, washed away and turned it into what looks like a gulley.

That road is supposed to be where the food trucks go down and where ambulances would drive in case of an emergency, but that’s obviously not possible now.

Camp Ranger Matthew Kelly told us he’s just thankful all the scouts were safe during the rain Friday night.

“Typically this type of weekend is our set up weekend for summer camp so we have a lot of volunteer help that comes out and we just have a good time and get a lot done and unfortunately we had to do a little bit more than that,” said Kelly.

Kelly said they're trying to get the troops that were scheduled here this summer rebooked at other campsites.

Right now, it could take several months before the camp is up and running again.
