It was a lesson in art, centered around Groundhog Day. And it taught students about the American tradition, as well as how to draw the animal.

The children followed a step-by-step guide that taught them how to draw the animal.

Joseph Knight, executive director of Hands On! A Child’s Gallery, said it was also a great way to learn about the American tradition.

"Oh, we get all sorts of questions about art projects. But specifically for Groundhog Day, we do get questions like what is Groundhog Day and why is it important if the groundhog sees it's shadow or not. So, it's a great way to educate people about that aspect of the holiday," Knight said.

Groundhog Day is Friday.
