Groups here in the mountains are collecting essentials to help folks hit by Hurricane Harvey.

A Hearts With Hands truck was parked outside Trinity Baptist in West Asheville Saturday as volunteers loaded up donated items for the trip to Texas. Toiletries, baby items, bottled water, and non-perishable, easy-to-open foods are still needed.

"That's one of the things Hearts With Hands has always done. See the devastation, but yet put our heart into action, and our hands into action to try to help folks, and because of the love of God in us we want to share that with someone else," said Greg Lentz.

The first shipment will leave for Corpus Christi Monday morning, with additional shipments to follow.

The truck will be parked at Trinity Baptist again Monday.
