Investigators in Buncombe County are working to determine what caused a fire in Asheville's River Arts District.

On Sunday evening, flames were seen shooting out of the building at 144 Park Avenue, right behind the Grey Eagle music venue.

The Asheville Fire Department responded with 12 crews and say the Grey Eagle was evacuated.

It was an uphill battle because of the weather. Water quickly froze on the ground.

Firefighters believe the structure was a home.

Battalion Chief Eric Johnson said, "Best I know it looks like a three-story home that was under renovation."

Johnson also said no injuries were reported.

Asheville police officers were on scene to direct traffic, but the surrounding roads were back open by Monday morning.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
