Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute also hosted several events for adults to view Monday's solar eclipse. One group even came from another continent just for this viewpoint.

PARI invited 50 amateur astronomers from across Italy specifically for this event. Many brought their own cameras and filters to capture the eclipse. Wearing red shirts, they gathered near the helicopter pad for the show.

One Italian astronomer said his group sends its observations to various locations, but Monday was just for them.

"We enjoy to see the eclipse because it is a particular event and is difficult to view around the world," Giampiero Mengoli said.

Tuesday, the group will head to Washington D.C., and after that, it will make its way to New York City.
