Local organizations come together for community prayer vigil
ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- A prayer vigil is scheduled Wednesday in the wake the weekend officer-involved shooting in Asheville.
The vigil being organized by the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, Baptist Ministers' Union and the Stop the Violence Coalition of Asheville and Buncombe County.
It will begin at noon at Mount Zion Baptist Church on Eagle Street.
The Stop the Violence Coalition says it will not make a statement in reference to the shooting that took place at Deaverview Apartments on Saturday, July 2, but will be praying for the families effected, the officer, the police department, and the entire community of Asheville.
