Man driving in wrong direction in McDowell found with methamphetamine

A man driving in the wrong direction in McDowell County was found with methamphetamine, McDowell deputies said.

The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Ronald Joseph Austin, 59, of Geneva, Alabama, with possession of methamphetamine.

At 12:35 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017, Austin was subject to a traffic stop at the intersection of U.S. 70 and U.S. 221 North. Authorities say he was driving northbound in the southbound lanes.

A subsequent search of the car turned up 4.1 grams of methamphetamine.
