Mills River considers purchasing land next to park, town hall complex
HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. -- The town of Mills River is keeping its options open for expansion.
Town leaders are looking to possibly buy a more than three-acre piece of property adjacent to the current 50-acre park and town hall complex.
Possible ideas for the future include expanding the park or building additional town facilities.
The town manager says the area has grown faster than anyone envisioned.
"We're getting the property appraised, and that's just the first step," Mills River Jeff Wells said. "Beyond that, there really is no plan yet. We just want to see what the value of the property is based on the appraisal."
Wells says council will decide what to do after the appraisal.
