UPDATE: Authorities find missing Newberry Middle School student
NEWBERRY COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) —
UPDATE: The missing autistic child from Newberry Middle School was located by law enforcement officers near the school property.
There was never any danger to the school or other children, according to Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster.
The Newberry police, SLED, local first responders and school officials participated in the search.
The child was found and was uninjured.
The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a student from Newberry Middle School who ran from out of the classroom and from the school Thursday afternoon.
Alexander Jennings Ware “AJ”, 13, ran from a classroom and outside just before 1pm Thursday.
Ware is 5 foot 5 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
He was wearing black sweats, a black and gray Addis hoodie, blue T-shirt, and black Nike shoes.
Ware has autism.
Anyone seeing Ware is asked to contact 911 immediately.
