Thursday morning snow prompted school officials in Madison County to first delay classes, then ultimately cancel school for the second day in a row.

Enough snow fell overnight and during the morning hours to cause some residents to bring out their shovels again.

Though it is still winter, the warm February had many in the mountains ready for spring.

However, the snow was a welcome sight for 4-year-old Charlie Beane in the Sams Gap Community, who said she planned to make snow angels on Thursday.

Charlie's mother Amy said snow this late in the season isn't unusual for the area, and recalled last April when they received about a foot of snow from one system.
