Nebo man faces multiple charges after car and foot chase Wednesday
MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) —
A McDowell County man is facing multiple charges after police say he instigated a high-speed chase and ensuing foot case Wednesday afternoon.
Randall Keith Webb, 43, of Nebo, is charged with fleeing to elude arrest, reckless driving to endanger, failure to stop for a red light, lane change violation, expired registration, failure to yield at a left turn, unsafe tires, driving on a revoked license and no liability insurance.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, deputies responded to a call of a suspicious male looking at an abandoned vehicle on the side of Fairview Road.
As authorities approached, the man, later identified as Webb, ran to a nearby Saturn SUV that he had driven to that location.
Police say he jumped in the Saturn and fled at a high rate of speed from Fairview Road to Jacktown Road to N.C. 226 and back to Fairview, where he pulled into a gravel area behind Fairview Corner Market and ran behind the Waffle House.
After a brief search of the area by authorities with the Sheriff’s Office, Marion Police Department, N.C. Highway Patrol and N.C. DMV, Webb was apprehended coming out of the woods at 206 Fairview Road.
