There's a new craft brewer on the scene, and a special ingredient makes its brews a bit different.

Ginger's Revenge is Asheville's first and only craft brewery specializing in alcoholic ginger beer.

The brewery, in RAMP Studios on Riverside Drive, will have a grand opening celebration with live music, a photo booth and giveaways starting at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Owners said the brewery will offer a variety of tastes.

"Our beer is naturally gluten-free," Cristina Hall Ackley said. "No malts or hops appeals to both our beer drinkers and non-beer drinkers, alike."

The Ginger's Revenge tasting room serves its flagship ginger beer varieties, traditional craft beer options, non-alcoholic craft sodas and light snacks. The tasting room also offers craft beer mixology.

"Ginger is a fascinating ingredient, and ginger beer is well-known as a classic cocktail mixer. We aim to share how versatile ginger beer can be by combining it with a variety of bitters, syrups, juices and even other beers," Ackley said in a news release.

Ginger’s revenge is located in a 7,800-square-foot warehouse space, with about 2,000 square feet dedicated to the tasting room.

A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit Africa Healing Exchange, a non-profit offering culturally appropriate solutions for challenges related to violence, trauma and poverty.
