No motive released after South Carolina teen charged with killing mother
LIBERTY, S.C. (AP) —
Police in South Carolina have arrested a 19-year-old man and charged him with killing his mother.
Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley said in a news release that 45-year-old Linda Ward of Liberty was found dead at her home around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Liberty Police Chief Adam Gilstrap said Ward appeared to have died from a blow to the head. Kelley said an autopsy is planned Thursday.
Jonathan Caleb Ward has been charged with murder. An arrest warrant says he called 911 and said he had killed his mother.
Ward is being held in the Pickens County jail. It was not known if he has an attorney.
Police have not released a motive for the killing.
