A section of the Blue Ridge Parkway temporarily closed on Wednesday as crews worked to remove a car that plunged 250 feet off an embankment.

Park officials said the road will likely be closed for several hours between mile post 364.5 and 367.5, near Craggy Gardens.

The incident happened Monday night. A witness told authorities they watched a vehicle go over the embankment just south of Craggy Gardens.

Rangers said Travis Miller was ejected from the vehicle and his body was found about 400 feet from the crash site.

The chief ranger said the incident has been ruled a suicide.
