Saturday was a perfect morning for swimming, biking, running--or even all three in one day.

It was the 13th annual Lake Lure Olympiad, and hundreds from across the country came to compete.

Whether they're professionals or just here for fun, passion ignites the course here.

"I love just getting in the water and going for it," said one participant

"I'm gonna do Chimney Rock, try to break the record," said two-time Olympian Anthony Famiglietti.

Famiglietti still remembers what it's like to run your first race. "My first race I fainted," he said.

And just like he's inspiring athletes here, parents are showing their kids what the race is all about.

"You can see everyone trying hard together, it's like we're all in this together," said another participant.

Famiglietti says the journey is truly more important than crossing the finish line.
