Person of interest sought in Judaculla Rock vandalism

JACKSON COUNTY, N.C. -- The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is seeking information on the identity of the person shown in the photo, regarding spray-paint vandalism to the rock and larceny of a sign at the Judaculla Rock Historical Site on Caney Fork near Cullowhee, N.C.

Judaculla Rock is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, and holds significance to the Eastern Band of the Cherokee. It's an ancient soapstone boulder with petroglyph carvings believed to be more than 1000 years old.
