Phillip Stroupe II to appear in court Monday on capital murder charge
MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) —
A man awaiting trial for a capital murder charge in the death of Thomas Bryson is set to appear in a McDowell County court Monday.
Phillip Stroupe II faces the murder charge in Henderson County.
While stroupe was on the run, for a time in the Pisgah National Forest, investigators say he broke several other laws, including fleeing police, reckless driving and possession of a firearm.
Stroupe was captured there on July 27, 2017 in McDowell County.
Bryson's body was discovered off Glenn Bridge Road in Arden three days later.
