Store owner: Customer shot suspect in West Asheville armed robbery

A convenience store owner tells News 13 that a customer shot the suspect in an armed robbery Friday night in West Asheville. The suspect is still in the hospital, the store owner said.

Police say there are active warrants out for a juvenile after the robbery.

According to warrants, there was an armed robbery at the M&J Food Mart at 1902 Old Haywood Road.

Police said Monday that there are two active warrants out for a juvenile, for robbery with a dangerous weapon and simple assault. Authorities say the warrants will be served upon the youth's release from Mission Hospital.

This incident is still under further investigation, and police say no additional information is available at this time.
