Reward increased to $3500 in shooting death of Yancey County K-9

YANCEY COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) —
The Yancey County Sheriff's Office has increased the reward in the shooting death of one of its K-9 officers.

The department is now offering $3500 for the information leading to arrest and conviction in the killing of the K-9 named Chris.

The shooting happened sometime late last Tuesday into early Wednesday while Chris was inside his kennel at a deputy's home.
A memorial service for the K-9 officer will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mountain Heritage High School.
The reward was initially set at $1000, then increased to $2800, and as of July 17, 2017 is $3500.
