Rescue and recovery effort continues for man ejected from boat on Lake Hartwell

At around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 a call of a possible drowning came in to Anderson County Dispatch near the Singing Pines Boat Ramp on Lake Hartwell in Anderson County at the Georgia state line.

A couple was boating on Lake Hartwell as a storm came up. They were both ejected from the boat.

The wife was rescued by a passing boater and brought to the Singing Pines boat ramp. As of Sunday evening, the husband remains missing, but his 16-foot boat was found on the Georgia shoreline.

Search and rescue continued until midnight on the water while operational planning continued throughout the night.

At approximately 7 a.m. on Sunday water operations began in search of the missing man.

Rescue and recovery efforts are ongoing.
