A man faces an assault charge after deputies say he shot and injured his father in the Dark Ridge Community of Jackson County.

Daniel Ray Hoyle, 20, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury in the shooting.

Jackson County deputies were dispatched around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday to a home along Begonia Lane in reference to a man being shot.

Authorities say Hoyle ran into the woods with a rifle once officers arrived on scene. A perimeter was set up and an armored Bearcat vehicle was called in.

Deputies say Hoyle surrendered peacefully after officers talked with him over a loudspeaker.

The victim, Hoyle's father, was taken to Mission Hospital with a single gunshot wound that authorities determined to be non-life threatening.

Hoyle was taken to the Jackson County Detention Center and given a $50,000 secure bond.
